THE RAPTURE

Has anyone heard this band? They played in Minot before they became the next big thing.

I have to say that at first listen thier new album "Echoes", wasn't anything special but after a few more spins it grew on me. I'm not yet ready to get some black polyester highwater pants, a black pearl buttoned western shirt, black horned rimmed glasses and to die my hair black, but I did enjoy the album.

I think it's because their influences seem to be so straightforward that it becomes kinda fun to pick them out. The album starts off sounding like the Cure during the "Boys Don't Cry" era and morphs into a combination of the "MinuteMen", "Nation Of Ulyssys" and early eighties "Ministry" just to give it that "Elecroclash" feeling.

All in all, it ends up being a pretty interesting album. That I liked it was a surprise to even me!
