ANOTHER FRIDAY THE 13TH...WITH TARANTINO?

Tarantino might direct a new Friday the 13th movie. I think it might be really cool if he did. I still enjoy the first Friday and 2 & 3 aren't too bad either. After that it starts to go down hill. Not too long ago I watched every Jason and Freddy movie, I found that I liked the Friday series better than the Nightmare series. Which did you like better? Discuss.

Being that I'm a John Carpenter fan, I tend to side with Halloween over those two franchises you mention (even if the first is the only really classic one). I guess I feel like Friday was a knock-off of Halloween, though I suppose one could make the same argument for Halloween with Black Christmas or Psycho as influences. I still think the original Halloween is a work of art, though.

All that aside...it's a tough one, Dyl. I do like the first Nightmare. It's not great, but it's pretty decent. The rest of the series just went waaaaay too over the top making Freddy into like a Dangerfield wanna-be. New Nightmare I guess is okay, too. But the rest of the series is lame.

The Friday series...never really been a huge fan, though the first two do have some decent moments. Like Kevin Bacon getting spiked, ha. The rest are pretty terrible, I'd have to say.

However, I could see Tarantino putting a whole new slant on the series and I think it could be cool. There was a rumor he was going to do a Halloween a few years back, but it never materialized. It'd be cool to see him try it. Christ, why don't the studios just let good directors (or at the least some young, ambitious ones, with a flair for something unique) take a stab at these tired old dinosaurs? I'd love to see Tarantino or anyone with some sense of style and originality try their hand at more genre work.

I don't know, what do you all think?

Here's some useless movie knowledge-Legend haas it that the first Friday The 13th movie riped off a Mario Bava movie called Bay Of Blood. Apparently the ways in which people die, setting and over all story are very similar. I've never seen the film though just read about the similarities.
