BACK TO IT

Well, it's been over two months since my last post. Two long crazy months. Throughout the month of November Budget Music & Video experienced some remodeling. We shrunk by 12 feet throughout the store. At first I didn't like it but now I think I like it better than before.

The holidays were great! The store was busy and I love it when friends and family come back into town. I had a Christmas party that I hope people enjoyed. Then it was New Years. I went out with Dave & met Tony and Keli at Sports On Tap for some Foosball. I suck so Keli kicked me off her team. Then it was back to my place for shenanigans.

I have purchased another lightsaber since my last post which enabled Keli to kick my ass in a lightsaber fight. I think she nailed her brother in the throat too. Next time Keli, next time...

I watched this movie yesterday and boy what a movie! It's got everything a 50's horror movie should have(except cool cars). Ancient mystical amulets and an unscrupulous scientist who misuses the amulets power, wild teenage girl parties complete with boys who sneak in and break out in song. Plus a vampire! Don't try to make sense of it. If you enjoy cheaply made movies from this era, then this is for you.

Three Great Albums to give a listen to

More than a few people would agree with me that 2005 sucked for worth while music releases. But November held a few surprises.

Kate Bush returned after twelve years with Aerial, an album that is renascent of her 80's albums Hounds of Love and The Dreaming which were highly experimental with her vocals and sound textures. Aerial is a welcome return from one of music most original and influential artists. Aerial manages to sound new and fresh but keeps in line with her own sound. It sounds like nothing else out there right now and with all the cookie cutter bands in the lime light right now, Aerial is something not to miss.

INXS. Yes I know. INXS Rockstar...but I've loved these guys since 1984's the Swing. It was one of my very first cassettes! Their 90's output was by and large forgettable but damn if Switch didn't blow me away! It is hands down their best album since Kick and has splashes from all of their 80's albums. The new singer sounds so much like Michael Hutchence that it can be eerie. Still it's good to have these guys back!

Imogen Heap, the new indie darling found an audience with Frou Frou via the Garden State soundtrack. Speak for yourself is her second solo album. It too blew me away. Wow, some really good song writing here. "Hide and Seek" is a wonderful song too bad it's been on the O.C.. Other songs of interest are "Have You Got It In You?", "Closing In". One thing Imogen does well is supply a paranoid feel with her lyrics that seem to feed off the music. She also has a very beautiful voice. With these qualities it's easy for the listener to see them being played in the backround of many movie scenes.
