THIS WEEKS COVER

Man, I didn't know that aliens looked like these in the picture!  Black swimsuit and boots plus a slinky on their heads=ALIENS!  Look out world!  I love the 50's.  Speaking of which, when's VH1 going to do I love the 50's and I love the 60's?

Two albums I've been listening to way too much are the latest from Kings Of Convenience, Riot On An Empty Street and the new album from A Girl Called Eddy, which is a self titled album.  All in all pretty mellow stuff.  Kings of Convenience sound like Simon & Garfunkle-whom I've always liked.

A Girl Called Eddy has many different sounds.  At times she has a sound that mixes Billy Joel style piano rock(old school that is) with Norah Jones' slow jazz piano.  Then top it off with the Phil Specter "Wall of sound" and you've got some good songs.  That's about half the album, the other half consists of slow folky songs.  She's got a great voice.  I'm sold! (She probably sounds close to a lot of 70's female artists but my knowledge of them is pretty week)

CONGATULATIONS (scroll down)

I ment to put this up earlier but lost the site.  Mike Klein is married and here is a link to a photo site with more wedding pictures for you to look through.  Congratulation Mike!  Looking good man.

ON THE WATERFRONT

Last Tuesday my room mate, Lance and I went up to my lake cabin at Metigoshi.  I have to point out that this is the first time in almost five years that I've made a trek up to the lake.  The last time was a cool September weekend and Eide came up with me that time.  It was fun we drank lots, shot off fireworks and I got attacked by bees.

This time around it was very nice the first night there.  Perfectly still and the water was still warm around 3am so we went for a swim. It was awesome!  We had many cocktails and shot off lots of bottle rockets and firecrackers.  The air was thick with the scent of gunpowder.  As I said, a perfect evening.

The next day wasn't as nice.  We continued to light off bottle rockets and firecrackers; finding all sorts of things to blow up.  But the weather wasn't the best.  The wind was quite strong and it rained off and on all day.  Lance drank something like thirty-six beers in a day and a half.  I had four and the better part of a liter bottle of whiskey.  I also chilled with a 750ml of Merry's Irish Cream.  That made me really sleepy.

It was a great time and I can't wait to do it again.  I can tell you that it won't be another five years before I set out for the waters of Metigoshi.

SOCIAL D RUMORS

Ok people, I've been hearing rumors about Mike Ness.  These are third hand rumors at best but people are saying that he's got full blow aids or cancer.  This is sad news if it's true.  I love Social Distortion and would hate to see Mike Ness and company disappear.  Is there any truth to these rumors?  If anyone has the lowdown on this let me know.

COVER OF THE WEEK

Check out that nifty handgun.  Nothing says sex and violence like this cover.  I'm pretty sure that every girl I've ever dated has had a figurative handgun.  Do you guys know what I'm talkin' about?

ELYSIAN FIELDS

The band Elysian Fields has existed in relative obscurity(at least in these parts) since the band released its first full length album, Bleed Your Cedar, back in 1996.  Throughout the years the band has drawn comparisons to Mazzy Star and the Cowboy Junkies.  I can definitely see the Mazzy Star comparison as Jennifer Charles' voice resembles Hope Sandovals voice.

With the release of their latest album, Dreams That Breath Your Name, Jennifer and Company have a sound that crosses Fiona Apple's Tidal with Vanessa Daou.  Of course the Mazzy comparison is ever present.  You might even be able to throw in a little Denali just to round everything out.  After all, Dreams does have that dark undertone that Denali was so good at. The album does have some week moments and is not for everyone.  If you ever find yourself in a sort of jazz/trip-hop club peopled with hipsters and later day beatniks, this may be the album for you.  I'd be there.

AND NOW FOR SOMETHING COMPLETELY DIFFERENT

I saw a funny thing the other day.  Wanna hear about it?  Of course you do!

One day last week a lawn care company was spraying the rocks out in front of the building for weeds.  There were two people; One was in the truck wearing a respirator while the other guy wore no respirator and was actually spraying weeds.

It gets better.

As we watch and laugh the guy spraying for weeds lights up a cigarette! Hmmm.  He's wearing big rubber gloves so he doesn't get any on his hands but that doesn't stop him from using the glove full of weed killer to smoke with!  Does anybody see anything wrong with this picture?  All I have to say is WOW!

Sealab 2021 season 1 and Aqua Teen Hunger Force season 2 come out tomorrow.  I can hardly contain myself!

Kevin Habberstad will be staying at my humble abode for a few days.  I'm sure silliness will ensue and give me stories to tell you.

Scott do you have something to tell us?  What exacly are "Scott straps and grip?"

Sorry man I couldn't resist!

Check out the accompanying photos to the linked articles.  Nice shootin' Michelle!

Madonna says Shhh! eveytime I ask her where my red-string wristband is.  Then I remember I lost it at a French brothel!  Silly me.  I guess now I'll never be able to be rich beyond my wildest dreams and tell the future once a year.  Damn!

Remember this day?  It's hard to believe that this was taken almost one year ago.  It will be a long time before everyone in this photo is in the same place at the same time.  Eide sent this picture that Jeremy Nelson took.  Thank you both for the memory! Posted by Hello

WOW

Blogger has done it again!  More cool changes like being able to upload pictures; Color, size and font selections!  I realize this may be annoying but I really don't care!  What good would these options be if people didn't use them?  There's also a block quote option and a "Remove settings from selection" option.  I haven't messed around with all of it yet.  Given time though...

So, I was talking to LC today and he told me that Dan Davis is in the latest Tattoo magazine and sure enough he was, page 41 to be exact.  Way to go Dan!

So far I think my favorite album cover has been the Ventures $1,000,000 weekend.  It has the cool 60's feel and look plus the girl on the cover is cute.  In honor of that cover I'm posting another ventures cover but this one has a bit of a different feel to it.

So, I'm going to ask you guys a favor, email me some pictures maybe one's you have of me or a group of us so I can post something on this site.  I just wanna do my first upload.  Please help me out!

COVER OF THE WEEK

This is one of my all time favorites. I actually own two copies of this LP.

How was everyone's 4th? I worked so I hope that many of you out there had a better time than I did. Lighting off fireworks in your backyard by yourself kinda sucks.

The giant boob girl has disappeared from my page. I hate when that happens. Does anyone know why?

Mark turned me on to this site. They specialize in shirts that will piss people off or hurt peoples feelings. I think the majority of them are hilarious. I can't decide if it's the most disgusting thing I've seen or the funniest. Note the disclaimer stating that they do not condone buying the shirts. Also the descriptions under the shirt titles are hilarious.

SOME THINGS

The Godfather has died...Did anyone know he was still alive or care? He grew weird with old age. I wonder, does this happen to all people or just the wealthy ones?
Thumbs up to...

Bush's baked beans have string beans and green beans beat hands down!

Dio Still rocks!

The new Cure album is actually really good. It sounds like a bunch of songs from the Kiss Me, Kiss Me, Kiss Me era mixed with a bit of Pornography. I'm really impressed! This is the Cure I grew up with. Ross Robinson has actually managed to capture their old sounds and make them fresh again. Who would have guessed the master of Nu Metal was the cure for The Cure.

This IS a sexy image.

Kurt Wenner is a street artist who does incredible work only to have it washed away by the rain. Check his site out for more cool street art.

I'll agree to that. Mimes freak me out.

Thumbs down to...

Under Google images I typed "beautiful women". Among other images this came up...I find it somewhat disturbing.

We all know that tornados suck but storm chasers, the paparazzi for nature's disastrous events suck even worse. What if a tornado is caught on film taking a poo. When is it enough people!

DISTURBING

North Dakota is getting weird. A bizarre death reported.
