SHOCK

Thanksgiving was spent with my family. It was an all-around enjoyable time. We ate, we watched a couple of movies and took a few naps...Awww, Thanksgiving rocks! When I got home there was a surprise waiting for me in the form of Stevie Carlson and Allison Hafer. Cocktails were consumed, stories were told and a drunken phone call to Larry was made. A nice laid back evening was had by all. How was everyone else's Thanksgiving?

Shock is the name of the game for this weeks album cover. Remember, don't listen to it alone(if anyone has, let me know how terrifying the listening experience was.

GOOD DAY?

This week has gotten off to a good start. First of all it's Thanksgiving week, so that's one day off for me. Plus nothing makes your day better than growing some balls and asking for a pretty girls number and actually receiving it...Or one, hopefully it's her number. It's probably a wrong way of thinking but I can't help it people do the all the time.

Anyways, it's still just a good feeling.

I can't wait to stuff myself and lay around watching movies with the family on Thursday. I love holidays!

KATE BUSH MONTH

For the past thirteen years I have celebrated the month of November as Kate Bush month. Thirteen years ago I happened to see a video on MTV's 120 minutes, it was Running Up That Hill by Kate Bush. The video wasn't a real video it was from some British TV show but she had a bunch of dancers around her as she sang and also danced. My mouth dropped open and stayed open until the end of the song. A connection was made somehow. This connection with the music and Kate Bush has changed my life or added fuel to the fire, I'm not really sure. When I'm asked to describe her, I usually say that she's a female version of Peter Gabriel. This works because they did some songs together and the subject matter of her songs is based on myth and supernatural things, the U.K.'s long history, or literature all of which I dig. Oh and she also writes songs about womanly stuff like sensuality and feelings.

Anyways, she is beautiful and has a beautiful voice. She was discovered by David Gilmore(Pink Floyd) when she was, I think 16 years old and put out her first album when she was 17. She did her own choreography for her live shows and videos and writes her own songs. She is truly a unique mind. A mind who has influenced people like Sarah Mclachlan, Tori Amos, Charlotte Martin, Fiona Apple-the list goes on folks.

If you would like to check her out, I suggest looking for the albums Hounds Of Love or The Dreaming. These were from her 80's heyday and both are great albums.

Man, I'm a dork. I think this is the dorkiest post I've ever done. Oh well, enjoy!

LARRY DRINKS ALONE TONIGHT

Larry, if you didn't know already, the guy who wrote the Hamm's song died and since you have many pictures of yourself drinking Hamm's I thought you'd want to know. I found it in the Forum.

Alright, here's a movie poster from a british sci-fi film.

Some days I think every girl is a "Devil Girl From Mars."

THE DISSOLUTION OF A MYTH?

My friend Brian emailed me an article in which an American claims to have found Atlantis. At first I thought neat! But as I read on, I began to wonder if this individual really did discover the lost cities location...That means that sooner or later all of its "secrets" will come to light and it probably won't be as romantic as we like to think of Atlantis as being. What if they weren't a "utopian society, what if they were bloodthirsty beings who sacrificed members of their own society to appease their gods just like most primitive societies and religions did. Still it would be quite interesting and possibly more insight into our human past. What if the discovery of Atlantis, which after all this time might seem bazaar, leeds to something even more bazaar?

people have all kinds of crazy ideas about Atlantis, Stonehenge, the Easter Island faces, the pyramids and maybe for good reason the vast "airstrips" that dot Peru and can only be seen from the sky because they are so big. Many people believe the works to have been done either for or by aliens because they were the only ones who could see them from the sky or the aliens were the only ones who had the capabilities to erect such monuments. Interesting this is, that most of these beliefs come not from people of this last century but from peoples throughout the centuries. But it has only been in the last century that people have actually been able to see some of these marvels from the sky.

I guess my real point is that it's more fun to not know. We can have fun with these world marvels from distant centuries built by mysterious people for reasons we as yet can only guess at. What would happen if every mystery was solved and our myths disappeared? Would we invent new ones? What would we as a people become without any fantasy in our lives?

WELL, WELL...

A lot has happened since my last blog. I've banged my knee up pretty good and been walking around in pain for about the last week. This tends to make you a little snippy with people. Also as we all now know a little over half the country voted for Bush. The other half are shaking their heads wondering what happened. I am in the head shaking group. My hope now is that with the country split concerning many important issues, that Bush follows through with his time of healing statement and that he and his party will take steps to bring people together as best as anyone can. A lot of people will be watching.

Having said that, nothing new here. I'm still finding myself busy at work and that means infrequent posts. Sorry. Eide, this will be of interest to you, remember the Sub Zero film Kirk and Derrick and I made? Well, Kirk has found a way to use the footage. The film if you remember was about meth use, and Kirks company has a project with the college making a documentary film about meth use. He plans to use Sub Zero footage in the documentary. I don't know if you'll end up in it or not but kids all across the country could possibly be watching your film debut. Neat huh.

Brent Braniff has a new album out and I believe it to be his best yet. Along with a new album he pops up on the net now. Stop by and check out his site. You can check out his art, listen to some music, read his ramblings or email him.

I just realized that I've been blogging for over a year now. wonder how much crap I've spewed out in that year? Oh well, here's to another craptastic year of blogging!

Also, Tony, I'm still waiting to here if Nicole is still a contestant on America's Top Model. Can ya help a brotha out?

Along with a fascination with strange album covers, I also am fascinated by old school movie posters. I just like the art work. So I think I'll be alternating between album covers and movie posters for a pick of the week type thing. I hope you enjoy and here's the first find.
